Symbiosis – SET Exam

Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to various undergraduate courses such as Management, Law, Mass Communication, Computer Studies, Engineering, Economics and Liberal Arts.

The exam consists of four sections: General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Analytical & Logical Reasoning. The exam duration is one hour and carries a total of 60 marks.

Candidates must have passed Class XII or equivalent examinations in relevant stream from a recognised board or university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST category students). There is no negative marking.

Symbiosis SET 2023 exam will be conducted in 80 test cities. The application process for the exam is online. Candidates must fill the online application form and make the payment of the application fee.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for SET exam is as follows:

  • Candidates must have cleared 10 + 2 examination or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • Candidates must have scored minimum 50% of aggregate marks.

Selection Process

The candidates are required to register for the SET exam along with individually registering for the colleges that offer the desired program of the candidates. If shortlisted, there is a further admission process that is conducted by each of the selected colleges individually.

The admission process is divided into two rounds:

  • Written Test (SET)
  • PI-WAT or ST-PI

Written Test (SET):

After the submission of your application, you will be required to appear for the SET exam by Symbiosis. The details of the SET exam are mentioned in the subsequent sections.

PI-WAT/ST-PI:

According to the selected program or college, you will be required to appear for either Personal Interaction and Written Ability Test OR Studio Test and Personal Interaction.

On the basis of the above two admission processes, a merit list will be declared for admission. The merit list will be divided into following components:

PI-WAT/ST-PI (50% weightage)

Note: SET score’s weightage of 50% is uniform across all colleges under Symbiosis. However, the breakup of PI-WAT or ST-PI differs according to the different colleges as displayed below:

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The SET exam is a computer-based test. It consists of three sections

  • General English
  • Quantitative Aptitude,
  • General Awareness,
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning

The General English section contains questions on reading comprehension, Prepositions, Vocabulary, Proverbs, among other topics.

The Quantitative Aptitude section consists of questions on Data Interpretation, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work, etc.

The Analytical and Logical Reasoning Section consists of questions from Coding-Decoding, Syllogism, Probability, Permutation & Combination, etc.

The General Awareness Section consists of questions from Static General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

The marking scheme for the SET exam is as follows:
  • There are 16 questions from each of the first three sections, and there are 12 questions from Analytical and Logical Reasoning Section.
  • There is no negative marking.

The Exam fee:

The entrance test fee for the SET exam is INR 1,950. In addition to this, there is a program registration fee of INR 1,000 for each program that you wish to apply for.
